September 2018 Family of the Month
Each month the Anoka Knights of Columbus choose a family that models Christian family values and visibly live by them every day. The family chosen for September 2018 is Tim and Rheanna Mickelson family from Coon Rapids, MN.
Tim and Rheanna have been members of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church since 2007. The two have been married for almost 12 years, starting their relationship as high school sweethearts. The Mickelsons have four children and together they are a very close family that often can be seen playing together, praying together and showing concern for each other’s well-being. The family enjoys camping, experiencing nature and getting wet, but one of their favorite activities is visiting ice-cream shops in the area. Tim and Rheanna place a priority on Sunday as a time to attend Mass with extended family members and welcoming grandparents and great-grandparents into their home to enjoy Sunday dinner and each other’s company.
Both Tim and Rheanna are active in the parish life. Together they are sponsors for engaged couples seeking matrimony and volunteer for the Fall Festival for St. Stephen’s School. Tim participates in and occasionally leads the Sunday evening Men’s Group and is a regularly-scheduled Eucharistic Adorer. Rheanna has been a middle school catechist, organized several women’s retreats to Pacem in Terris, helped organize and present at the Women’s Day retreat and is a member of the parish Strategic Plan Implementation team. She is also one of the founders of the Women’s small group.
